Collection: For bird gardens

When planning a garden for birds, choose native plants that provide food and cover. Food can be seeds, berries, or caterpillars (host plants). Bird needs change with the seasons, so use a diversity of plants to provide habitat year-round. Your yard can be a bird haven from spring nesting to fall migration to winter foraging! To learn more about gardening for birds, I highly recommend Mariette Nowak's book Birdscaping in the Midwest.

Note: To ensure fruit production on trees and shrubs, plant at least five of the species. Looking to attract hummingbirds? See this list: Hummingbird plants
