Showy pink flower wands make this a popular shrub for rain gardens, swales, and other moist areas. Slowly spreads by rhizome to form colonies. The rare Karner blue butterfly has been seen visiting the flowers for nectar. Deer and rabbits occasionally browse it but the bitter foliage is not their favorite.
Prune in winter if desired.
