Tradescantia ohiensis (Ohio spiderwort)

This easy-to-grow plant adapts to most soil condition, from sand to clay. Like other spiderworts, the flowers open in the morning and close in the afternoon. Leaves turn yellow after blooming and can then be cut back to 6 inches if you prefer. Or, plant with fall-blooming plants to cover up the declining foliage. Spreads easily by seed.
