Native to the Great Plains with populations in central and northwest Wisconsin, this spiderwort thrives in dry, sandy soil. Its stiff, slender leaves resemble daylilies more than other spiderworts. Like other spiderworts, the flowers open in the morning and close in the afternoon. Spreads easily by seed, especially in rich soil.
