Despite the grass-like leaves, this plant is actually in the Iris family. The white to blue-violet flowers have yellow centers and provide valuable nectar and pollen for native bees when many prairie plants have not yet started to bloom. Naturally found in prairies, this is the most drought-resistant species of blue-eyed grass. Spreads slowly by rhizome.
