Also known as grey-headed coneflower, this cheery prairie classic tolerates drought, heat, and flooding. Host plant for the silvery checkerspot butterfly, wavy-lined emerald moth, and others. The seeds are a favorite of finches in winter. Spreads moderately by rhizome and seed.
