There are many non-native penstemon out there. This is a true southern Wisconsin native! It is also a species of special concern in Wisconsin. A versatile garden plant, the leaves turn a lovely red in the fall. Host plant for several checkerspot butterflies and attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees.
