We are in the southernmost range of this plant in Wisconsin. It is native to northern forests, where it spreads by rhizome to form a groundcover with its large heart-shaped leaves. The flower stalks reach 1-2 feet tall and are white with a tinge of purple. Host plant for the pearl crescent butterfly.
