Have you met our native biennial thistle? It may not be the plant for your front walkway, but it's a wildlife favorite and adds color to the garden in August when not much else is blooming. Softer than non-native weeds like Canada thistle, this plant does not spread by rhizome. Goldfinches love the seeds and use the hair as nest lining.
