Carex grayi (morningstar sedge)

This sedge wins the award for most distinctive flowers. The spiky florets persist until fall and can be used in bouquets. Tolerates occasional flooding and makes a good addition to rain gardens. 

Also called common bur sedge or Gray's sedge.
