Carex bebbii (Bebb's oval sedge)

A clump-forming sedge with a fine, grass-like texture. Thrives in medium-wet soil. The spiked seed heads provide food for birds like juncos, snow buntings, and many sparrows. Host plant for at least one species of moth. Sedges are also important host plants for grasshoppers.
