Caltha palustris (marsh marigold)

This native buttercup grows along streams and ponds and is one of the earliest flowers to bloom in spring. Flexible in terms of sun conditions, it does require consistently moist to wet soil. Takes three years to bloom, but the cheery yellow flowers are worth the wait.
