Easy to grow, easy to collect your own seeds. As the name implies, this is the most common milkweed in southern Wisconsin. Like all milkweeds, it is a host plant for monarch butterflies. It spreads quickly by rhizome, so might need some “editing” in a small garden.

  • Height: 2 to 4 feet
  • Bloom time: June, July, and August
