Allium stellatum (prairie onion)

Short green leaves emerge in spring and die back as the flower stalk appears. The delicate starburst-like flowers attracts a variety of small bees and can be eaten as a garnish. The bulbs are also edible raw or cooked and can be harvested in the second year.
