Also known as rose or swamp milkweed, this moisture-loving plant is the milkweed for clay soil. It’s an excellent pollinator plant and frequently included in rain gardens. Like all milkweeds, it is a host plant for monarch butterflies. It also hosts queen butterflies, dogbane tiger moths, and the milkweed tussock moth. The flowers have a vanilla-like scent.
